1 cup chopped date
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
Cook until thick

Filling #2
1-1/2 cups chopped dates
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon cornstarch
3/4 cup finely chopped nuts
Cook until thick

Dough:
1 cup water -or--
1/2 cup cornsyrup and 1/2 cup water
1/3 cup fat
1 egg
1/3 cup sour milk
1/4 teaspoon soda
2 teaspoon baking powder
2-1/2 cup flour (more, if necessary)

Roll out to 1/4 of an inch, leaving a 1/2 inch lip on it.
Put filling on rolled dough.
Roll up like a bedroll (pinwheel).
Put in icebox for 2/3 hours until chilled.
Slide into 1/4 inch cookies.
Bake at 325°
