A big THANK YOU to Thomas Murray and Lora Johnson for hosting the 2009 Christmas Party. A traditional turkey and ham was served with all the trimmings—and more! Guests brought lots of treats and good food to share. (Recipes for those treats and good things are always welcome in the “Recipe” section!) We missed a few family members, and we hope to see them next year! We also were able to welcome some extended family members we haven’t seen in a while. We exchanged gifts through the fun times offered by the usual “swap and steal” game—and another game that involved sending gifts to the left and right. Good times were had by all!

OKLAHOMA CONTINGENT MADE IT
THROUGH A STORMY CHRISTMAS
Sherry Odom reports a record-breaking storm created a perfect time for families to spend quietly at home. Montana couldn’t go too far after her vehicle was stranded on I-35 until late on Christmas Day after she got stuck.
Sherry also reports that Montana’s due date has been moved forward a couple weeks, and she will be welcoming a little girl by caesarean at the beginning of April.
Bub had surgery to remove cancer, and it went well according to Teo. He was sore for a few days, but no more cancer!
Chandler now has braces! He seems to be doing OK with them, and smiling isn’t a problem. There was a few breaths held in hopes he might feel self-conscious enough so he wouldn’t talk so much, but self-consciousness has not been an issue.
There are new photos posted on the website, so check them out at www.olsonorigins.com!

TREADMILLS ARE GOOD?
Both Randi Agens and Val Olson are experiencing the joys of treadmills. Randi’s is now in her bedroom, thanks’ to Bill, and she reports she can ALMOST fall out of bed and give it a workout—but she’s not there yet. Val has sent a very detailed letter about his thoughts on attempts to use a treadmill—he gives the impression that there might be a bit more to it than he’s experienced. In his words, “I weill walk on the treadmill for a time (ok ok so I just set it up and look at that).” He is good, though, and follows up by saying he does walk on it for about 15 minutes each time he does so. He also explains that his day is full of “a whole lot of nuttin,” and then describes his entire morning routine—including a very detailed account of how to prepare what sounds to be a very good breakfast. I suggest all readers contact Val and give him suggestions as to how treadmills can brighten a day. Randi, any advice?
SOUTHERN MINNESOTA NEWS
Amy Eich is reporting snow and blowing snow—and closed roads. Apparently, Minnesota and Oklahoma do have some things in common! She also reported the weather delayed their family get-together, though she and Emily did visit Ken. Jason was stuck in Lamberton, so they celebrated Christmas on Monday when he was back home. Amy also reported that Darcy received a tattoo from her kids—she now proudly displays “True Tramp” on her lower back—and, if I recall correctly, it was also on display at the Christmas party in Little Falls. On another subject, Amy has sent new photos, which are now on display in her photo album at www.olsonorigins.com.

SUMMER IS ONLY
A FEW MONTHS AWAY
Olson Origins is already being sent information on some family gatherings that will be going on this summer. Send dates and details to admin@olsonorigins.com, and that information will be passed on as soon as possible. Right now, watch for a Hauskins reunion this summer in Cedar Rapids, Iowa—and the Thorsons will also be getting together. As always, the Olsons will probably be getting together for their camping fun. There are at least two weddings coming up, and new babies are expected. Forward the news as soon as you can get the details, please!
